Kicking Daisies returns to their Connecticut roots this Friday night (Nov. 16), performing at The Space. The founding member, guitarist Ben Spremulli, is from Fairfield. I was given the opportunity to sit down with one of the newest members of the group, Richie Arthur to help people get better acquainted before this show.

Duran Visek, Richie Arthur, Ben Spremulli and Jeff Maurer are basically average teenagers – except that they use the same music producer as Katy Perry, have shared the stage with Natasha Beddingfield and Paramore, and are traveling the East Coast on a 70-show concert tour.

The four musicians make up Kicking Daisies, an alternative pop-rock band from Fairfield, Conn., that will perform in Wildwood Sunday, Aug. 19 as a part of the Wild 100 Centennial Concert.

Though each band member is still in their teens, pop rockers Kicking Daisies want to stress that they have musicianship, creativity and drive that should be taken very seriously.

Teen event at Willowbrook: Teen Vogue is hosting a back-to-school shopping at Willowbrook Mall today. There will be live music in the Bloomingdale's exhibit court, featuring Kicking Daisies and a performance by Katlyn Nichol.

Teen rockers Kicking Daisies blend pop, rock and a whole lot of energy with stunning musical skills to sell out venues around the country and open for some of the biggest names in pop and indie rock. With breakout successes ranging from winning Disney’s Next Big Thing Contest and a Billboard charting single, the gifted members of Kicking Daisies – Ben Spremulli, Duran Visek, Richie Arthur and Jeff Maurer — are setting their sights on stardom.

The Fairfield-based teen pop/rock powerhouse earlier this year recruited bassist Richie Arthur and drummer Jeff Maurer ­­to replace longtime members Caitlin Kalafus and her sister, Carly Kalafus, who left due to creative differences, lead guitarist Ben Spremulli said.

“There are no hard feelings,” Spremulli added. “It was a good break. It was probably for the best.”

It was January 2009 when teen pop/rock powerhouse Kicking Daisies made its first public appearance -- a live performance at Fairfield Theatre Company's StageOne.

They describe the music they write and perform as being "pop rock with a twist." The band has recently opened for Cheap Trick in the National Mall celebration of Earth Day 2012 and even had the opportunity to perform at Bamboozle
